datadog-agent

Chainguard's redistribution of the Datadog Agent Helm chart, pre-configured with hardened Chainguard Images.

The Datadog Agent collects metrics, logs, traces (APM), and security signals from your Kubernetes clusters and forwards them to Datadog.

Prerequisites

Authentication is required to access this chart and its images. First, authenticate with Chainguard and configure your environment:

chainctl auth login
chainctl auth configure-docker --pull-token --save
helm registry login cgr.dev

Create an image pull secret in the namespace you will install into:

kubectl create namespace datadog
kubectl create secret docker-registry cgr-pull-secret \
  --docker-server=cgr.dev \
  --docker-username="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Username')" \
  --docker-password="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Secret')" \
  --namespace datadog

Installation

You will need a Datadog API key to send data to Datadog.

helm install datadog oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/datadog-agent \
  --namespace datadog \
  --set datadog.apiKey=<YOUR_DATADOG_API_KEY> \
  --set datadog.site=<YOUR_DATADOG_SITE> \
  --set agents.image.pullSecrets[0].name=cgr-pull-secret \
  --set clusterAgent.image.pullSecrets[0].name=cgr-pull-secret

Set datadog.site to your Datadog site (for example datadoghq.com, datadoghq.eu, or us5.datadoghq.com).

About This Chart

This is a redistribution of the upstream Datadog Helm chart. All upstream configuration options and documentation apply.

The chart deploys:

  • The node Agent as a DaemonSet on every node for metrics, logs, and APM collection.
  • The Cluster Agent as a Deployment for cluster-level checks, the external metrics server, and the admission controller.
  • Optional Cluster Checks Runners as a separate Deployment when clusterChecksRunner.enabled is set to true.

Both the Agent and Cluster Agent images are available as FIPS-compliant variants for use in GovCloud and other regulated environments. Enable the FIPS variant by installing this chart from oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/datadog-agent-fips and setting useFIPSAgent: true in your Helm values.
